Anvil
Pound for Pound
[Metalblade]
Toronto's ANVIL have returned. I didn't check out their last LP "Strength of
Steel" cuz they looked like stupid poser homosexuals...they're normal now,
and the music is quite good. Starting with "Blood on Ice" (the heaviest
track here), Lips (ANVIL's vocalist) growls ferociously, and the music is
thrashy (very much like MEGADETH). "Corporate Preacher" is slow and eerie
with good lyrics, but unfortunately lacks power.
If you like ANVIL's 2nd and 3rd LPs (with a bit of RIOT and some fresh
sounding riffs), then get this. Catchy (Poser ? Ah, who even cares
anymore ?) songs I like are : "Safe Sex", "Toe Jam", and the one that reminds
me of THE SKYHOOKS, "Where Does All The Money Go". Ahhh, this vinyl reminds
me of when I first got into metal, but I'm not sure if it will last well or
not.
PS: "Toe Jam" sounds like a speed metal square dance...
