Septic Flesh
A Fallen Temple
[Holy]
The black metallers from Greece are back in a new album. This album
divides into 3 parts, the first one contains 4 new songs, and in my
opinion is the best part of them all. The songs are pretty melodic and
calmed here. The second part are songs from the "temple of the lost race"
mini CD. In this section of the album, the music is faster and more
intense. The third part is under world act II and a "dark" version to
the song "the elder cosmonaut". Sounds like an old school version or
something like that. About the music : I don't know really how to define
S.P's music...the best I can think of is melodic black with touches of
death and doom, and all that played with that Greek atmosphere. Anyway it
sound's really good, the guitars are often palm muted and usually
mid-tempo with some nice solos..I must say that the drums sound
different than usual (maybe a bit industrial sometimes) but that's ok.
They use keyboards sometimes but not too often. The vocals are deep (as
always) and some normal ones, and I must say that they have one hell of a
female singer (sounds excellent). The production is good and the sound is
very clear. The weirdest part of this album is under world act I and
act II : those are two songs (if you can call them songs...) that last about
7 minutes each. It sounds like a psychedelic opera or something. The
lyrics are crazy and the music is not very organized, but I guess that's
the way it was meant to be anyway (it took me about 5 listens before I
started to find any beauty in it).
Well I guess that's it. After all, it is a very good album that's worth
checking out.
