Cerebral Fix
Tower of Spite
[R/C]

Obviously, 'Tower of Spite' came out before 'Bastards', but the two are basically the same. However, both are quite different from their debut album which has more of a punk/grind sound to it. That was a cool thing about Cerebral Fix. Their musical progression seems natural if one listens to all four albums in succession.

The thrashiness is prominent on this record as it is on 'Bastards', but this is where the development of the band's doomy riffs began. "Feast of the Fools" is a grand composition of just-slow-than-mid-pace heaviness dominated by Simon Forrest's aggressive vocal style. "Circle of the Earth" and "Cultes Des Mortes (I)" also provide a doomy feel. "Chasten of Fear" displays some cool harmonized riffs amidst its carnage-inducing double-bass fury. "Closing Irony", one of the best tracks, would be an instrumental were it not for the few vocal lines toward the end (which aren't included in the lyric booklet dammit!). It's definitely one of the coolest Cerebral Fix songs ever written. Beware, though, it is not on the vinyl version, only on the CD, which sucks. Listening to Cerebral Fix on vinyl fucking rules.
