Morbid / Mayhem
A Tribute To The Black Emperors
[Warhammer]
The selling point of this disc is that it contains the stylish croonings of
Dead, the man who was critical in the development of Mayhem. Upon joining,
Mayhem started to gain it's blown out of proportion reputation. His tenure
with the band was probably what could be considered their heyday in black
metal. I still don't buy the theory that we should be grateful to Mayhem
for their serving as a catalyst for the resurgence of black metal as
Hellhammer likes to say in interviews when not whoring with Covenant. Fuck
that!!! Lets just say Dead was a good vocalist and that's that. The Morbid
side of things will be new or make that unheard to most but it isn't all
that hot. Useless fact : Uffe Cederlund of Entombed fame was also in the
band. The song 'Disgusting Semla' is pretty fucking silly with it's
LaLaLaLa vocal chorus. What the fuck were they thinking ? Four Mayhem (dead
does vocals on three of 'em) songs are present of which anyone who is a
true fan/collector would already have. You gotta be a completist to have
this as it's really not essential.
