Depresy is my first exposure to Slovakia's metal scene, and I must say that if at least a quarter of Slovakian bands are as good as this one, then we are sitting on a gold mine. Depresy is quite an enigma. A very diverse, distinctly European death metal band of the highest quality, with this album being everything one could possibly want from modern European death metal. "Sighting" has it all - a perfect, organic combination of melody, brutality, atmosphere, and a style of its own. Are you looking for an onslaught of brutal yet intelligent riffs complemented by roaring and powerful growls? There you go. Or maybe you would prefer something slower, more epic and atmospheric? Check. Perhaps you want your death metal to be spiced with some excellent melodic hooks, or with an addition of stylish symphonic keyboard textures? There you have it too. Depresy's ability to seamlessly converge different elements and moods into something so consummate, ingenious and uniquely their own as this work is truly amazing. This album is a keeper, and this band is a treasure. Unless you thrive exclusively on over-the-top death metal barbarism, you should seek this out immediately, for you will not regret it.
