I picked it up from a used bin because it was ridiculously cheap, and that's basically what I got. Rotting is a Canadian band playing standard American death metal in the vein of Suffocation and Deicide. Downtuned guitar mayhem, pounding drums, macho growls, gory lyrics, occasional solo - you know the drill. There is nothing outstanding about the band, but you know, they are keeping it brutal, and that's that. They seem to be very proud of what they do. "When you're this heavy," boasts the statement inside the inlay, "they call you Rotting." I guess such declaration makes any further arguments about style or progress totally redundant, so if you need some mindless brutality to pound you into submission, these guys will get the job done. Just keep in mind that there are many other bands out there who do pretty much the exact same thing.
