Nahash
Wellone Aeternitas
[Drakkar/Ludo Tako]
This was actually released on CD by cult Drakkar out of France awhile
back, but has just recently been put on cassette by Ludo Tako
Productions for the Lithuanians. Luckily, I have a great trader out of
Lithuania, and thus get to see both versions >:]
This is quality and dark black metal, with a certain atmospheric touch.
Much better than the demo in my mind, Nahash have created a successfully
grim feeling this time around, and also added a nice sombre touch to
their music; it's quite depressive in some parts. Sadly, as with the
demo, the production is lacking. Some bands can use this sort of
production to their advantage, but Nahash surely don't.
Overall, is this worth it though? Yes! The music is thick and warped
sounding, with various original elements, and truly negative sounding
musical sections. Everything is dark and evil sounding, with violently
screamed vocals, amazing and tasteful usage of keyboards, and depressing
guitar work. With more work on their production, Nahash could truly be
one of the darkest and grimmest bands out their. Until then, they are
simply "excellent" (which is impressive to say the least). But with a
little more work, they could be "legendary". A fine start to what will
hopefully be a fulfilling stream of releases from this excellent
Lithuanian band.
