Sickness
Verbrannte Erde
[Folter]
No, this is not the American or Greek Sickness. Rather, this is the
fairly unknown German band, with one of the earlier Folter Records
releases. The album is based around war it seems, as the packaging has
various distorted war photos. Most of the lyrics are in German, and the
music can best be described as old-school death metal, mixed with some
black metal influences.
This could have been a decent album, but the production is just so
fucking miserable. It really did not impress me in the least, simply
because it's terribly quiet sounding, and in no way does it fit this
music at all. The music isn't so great either, simply because it's so
simple and boring. There's no real atmosphere or brutality.
Mostly death metal for the most part, there's also some minor black
metal vocals heard in the background at times. This reminds me of
Deicide actually, although slowed down, and without any real technical
ability. Yes, this is nothing more than background music, and fairly
miserable sounding background music in that respect. What more can be
said about such a bland and unimpressive release? Nothing really! Not
worth tracking down outside of a tape trade.
