Belmez
Siechtum
[Napalm]
Belmez (A one man band - Karsten Breitung ex of Eminenz with drum machine in
tow) like to use the tag of dark metal to describe his brand of mayhem, a
tag similar used by another German band namely Bethlehem. Dark metal is a
suitable label as it couldn't really be considered black (One might be
deceived by it's cover art) because many of the songs border on doom.
Basically a sick atmosphere and gloom prevails over all elements to
Belmez's music. It isn't all doom though as there are moments where Karsten
loses it and goes into some mean-ass riffage and uses his native tongue to
full extent (To quote Varg Vikernes: "German is the power speech!"
after all). Is there any other language that sounds so pissed off and
hateful? The artwork throughout the CD is excellent with a photo of
probably the coolest looking skull I've ever seen. One last thing, there is
a spoken word/horror segment on the disc that can be only simply described
as fucking weird. A very cool CD, way better than previous effort Berserker.
