Angizia
Das Tagebuch Der Hanna Anikin
[Napalm]
On Napalm Records from Austria come Angizia that I will say straight off that is not
for everyone. Angizia play a melancholic and happy piano driven sort of music that is
somewhat black influenced as well as classical influenced. The piano is the main instrument,
but it is not overpowering . The guitars are not too loud but louder than their previous ,
"die kemenaten scharlachroter lichter," they are also sound better, a bit more crunchy
distortion. Also accompanying the piano and guitars are trumpets and flutes that add a nice
touch. The vocals are female vocal dominated with harsh and high pitched black metal vocals
and clean male vocals. The female vocals are beautiful, her voice could curdle milk while
inside the cow, top notch soprano. The male vocals both in the black metal and clean range
are a vast improvement over their previous work. The black metal vocals are more wicked
sounding, and in some parts brutal, while the clean vocals are an improvement over the
previous. The song writing is very theatrical, classical oriented, the music is somewhat
"happy" I guess, not very black sounding, but well arranged and played. I for one love
Angizia, and this CD is the best work they have done so far. A good progression over their
last full length and a vast improvement over there split CD with fellow Austrian label mates
Amestigon. I know that this is not for everyone, I am just recommending this on my taste
for weird music, some of you might check it out and say "what the fuck is this shit." But
if you are indeed open minded and can appreciate something different I definitely recommend
this CD.
