In this first black metal offering from Texas band Absu, they explore the Mesopotamian mythologies with a reckless spirit and musically DarkThrone's 'Soulside Journey' comes to mind. The fuzzy guitar sound they use, Shaftiel's death metal vocals and Proscriptor's drumming here are reminiscent of that early DarkThrone stuff. The occult way in the lyrics is more obscure than what you see in their later albums, maybe because they were not that proficient in that stuff back then. The video clip I've seen of one of the songs from this album, was quite bad too!
