Deteriorate
Rotting in Hell
[JL America]

Besides the Beherit bootleg CD (which I worship for cult reasons alone, this CD is easily the best OVERALL release on JL America) Deteriorate produced a standout and powerful recording during the somewhat pathetic reign of JL America. I'll admit I've never heard what happened to them after transforming into a black metal band (although a post break-up project entitled Zahriman is rather interesting), but this is some of the finest death metal to appear during this specific time period.

Crunching riffs, original and twisted vocals, and violent drumming made this into a cult and much adored release. Most people have shunned it simply because it was either released during a stale time for death metal, OR because it was released on JL, but I suggest going back and taking another listen. The velocity of this band combined with the hoarse and venomous vocals is no less than impressive.

After listening to the opening track, I had the words "Crucify him, Crucify him" stuck in my head for days. This makes me go back and back wanting to listen to this over and over. The vocals will also make you cringe like a little girl, since they aren't your typical death metal vocals. It's more of a combination between Mr. T.G Warrior, a dozen cartons of cigarettes, and some modern brutal death influence. Unique, violent, and Satanic, "Rotting in Hell" reigns supreme. I've always wanted to check out the black metal release from this band, so expect a review sometime in the future….
