A disc for fan's of Darkthrone style black metal evil, and because of that, get's a big "thumbs up" from me. Dodheimsgard play a *very* similar style of real and raw black metal, in a once-proud Norwegian fashion. Sadly, the band have now become one of many bland "neo-thrash" bands, and have left the Norwegian scene to a pathetic mess of "pop-black" bands. This disc should be purchased to see one of the last few decent Norwegian bands, in their prime, playing violent and killer black metal. Everything, from the riffs to the vocals sounds not only hateful, but also very painful. Fenriz (of Darkthrone fame) adds some excellent and audible bass lines to the music, and combining that with Aldrahm's godly riffs and vocals, every listener of this album is treated to a mess of excellent, and REAL black metal. Aldrahm's vocals, as mentioned before, are not only painful sounding, but also very original. They contain less rasp and more "yell"....they sound very blunt, yet successfully angry. The music is itself sort of a combination between fast-paced Darkthrone, some cleaner and reverb drenched sections, and Aldrahm's own, original style riffs. Fast paced, hateful, and REAL black metal done in such a great way.....a fashion of playing that probably won't ever be brought back into black metal, since there's little cash in it, yet so much in playing water-downed pop-ish black tunes :(
