Godkiller
The Rebirth of the Middle Ages
[Wounded Love]

Although on the surface Godkiller seem like a generic black metal band, with some deeper listening and concentration, they transform themselves into a highly successful and interesting group. After the (one man) bands impressive demo, Godkiller have returned with a 4 song (and an intro) mCD. The songs are sort of like mixing Burzum style vocals with some fast and tight modern black metal. Filled with impressive riffs, some good drumming (even it if it a drum machine..but it's so good I'm not quite sure), and some interesting effects here and there, this 20 minute mCD is worth purchasing. The synth work on this disc is remarkably similar to some of Mortiis' work...it sounds the same at least. Guitars are tight sounding, and occasionally create some inspiring riffs. Drums, as mentioned before, *may* be a drum machine...but at times they sound real, so perhaps Mr.Satanaël decided to switch back and forth. Some acoustic sections, and more ambient (interesting synth effects) fill the music as well at times...like the title mentions, the music sounds nicely medieval at times. Vocals are heavily screamed in a Burzum like fashion, and go nicely with the music. Worth getting your hands on, and I look forward to the full length, which should be quite good since this is just a start for the band :)
